Marcus Theatres Announces New Cinema in Findlay, Ohio
All Stadium Seating, Digital Sound Theatre Will Be Circuit's Third in Ohio

MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2005--Marcus Theatres Corporation, a division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE:MCS), today announced plans for a new theatre at the Shops at Timberstone Commons in Findlay, Ohio. Still in the planning stage, the all-stadium seating, all-digital sound theatre will feature 12 screens and a dramatic art deco exterior design. Marcus Theatres(R) is the ninth largest circuit in the United States, and currently operates nearly 500 screens at 44 locations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Ohio. Other Marcus Theatres in Ohio are located in Columbus and Pickerington.

"Our new Findlay cinema will be designed from the ground up to be a state-of-the-art showplace where the combination of guest amenities, picture, sound and service will provide an unmatched entertainment experience. This amazing new theatre will take moviegoing to an entirely new level. We are very pleased to be part of the exciting growth in this community and the development of the Timberstone Commons," said Bruce J. Olson, president of Marcus Theatres.

"The Marcus Cinema of Findlay will create an entertainment destination in north-central Ohio that will attract families from throughout the five-county area. The planned Marcus Cinema will be a first-class facility and will become part of the vibrant growth of Findlay," Olson said.

"Our Findlay cinema will be easily accessible and will feature all of the amenities that today's moviegoers expect - stadium seating, digital sound, big curved screens, comfortable seats in every auditorium - and a lot more. The theatre will boast Marcus Theatres' 2010 art deco design concept, with crown moldings, murals, elegant warm woods, rich marble floors and granite counters that create an attractive upscale environment for moviegoers. Not only will the theatre have impressive picture and sound, the Marcus Cinema of Findlay will showcase the best new guest service technologies available in the industry, including online print-at-home ticketing, an e-mail showtime service and lobby entertainment on flat-screen monitors," Olson said.

Additional amenities at the Marcus Cinema of Findlay will include:

  • An extensive refreshment center with an expanded menu serving several different kinds of pizza, hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, coffee, cappuccino and traditional theatre candies.
  • Popcorn always popped fresh.
  • Icy-cold Pepsi products quickly and conveniently available at a large self-service beverage center.
  • Fully accessible facilities for disabled guests.
  • Personal listening devices for moviegoers who wish to adjust their own volume.
  • The newest technology in open-caption film presentations for deaf and hard-of-hearing guests.
  • Plush, high-back seats with headrests and cupholders.
  • Wide, comfortable seats with increased legroom for added comfort.
  • Double-wide love seats for couples who wish to cuddle up during movie presentations.

The Marcus Cinema of Findlay will be located at the northwest corner of the intersection of US 224 East and County Road 236. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2005, with an opening anticipated in early 2006.

Other Marcus Theatres expansion projects currently underway include a new 12-screen theatre opening in March 2005 in Saukville, Wis., and new theatres in Green Bay and Sturtevant, Wis., that will begin construction in spring 2005.
