Disney, Miramax Founders Reach Settlement

March 30th, 2005

Disney and the Weinstein brothers who founded Miramax have ended their long relationship this week. Bob and Harvey Weinstein reinvented independent movie making back in 1979 when they formed Miramax and went on to release such movies as Pulp Fiction, Clerks, and The English Patient. They sold the company to Disney in 1993, but what started as a beautiful friendship ended in a clash of wills and egos.

Disney will keep the Miramax name and library, and the Weinsteins get to keep the Dimension Films label.
