One of the best westerns ever made. "High Noon" is a serious treatment of the western gerne. The star of "High Noon" is the clock whick ticks down to the showdown. The film is about courage in the face of danger, a man who is by himself and no one will help him. The film about a man must stand up for a town, even if the town refused his help. Gary Cooper won a Academy Award as Will Kane, a sherriff who learned that a group of outlaws are out to get him. The leader of the group just got out of prison after Sherriff Kane put him there. Cooper has married Amy (played by Grace Kelly), as the film opens and from there, events are pointing toward the noon showdown. Fred Zinnemann did a great job of putting this movie together. "High Noon" is a must-see. Here's the reason why, not many people today watch westerns. If you never saw a western, make "High Noon" your first.
