"Mud" is an excellent tale of a killer who befriends two boys. It stays with you. I felt what it's like in a small poor river town. It's a multi-facted film. You like the main character but see his flaws. An enduring glue to the film is its commentary on love - with all the struggles.
"Mud" is a very good indie movie that is one of the best movies of the year so far. And I didn't even think that movie will ever show up around here. What I love about this movie is the performance from Matthew McConaughey who gave a far better performance than that male stripper in last year's "Magic Mike." He plays the title role as a man who is running from the law and was befriended by two boys who came from a redneck town. They're trying to get him out of town on a boat they found in a tree. Reese Witherspoon plays his ex-girlfriend. A rareity that someone like Witherspoon, whose been in all those comedies, is to get to do a drama in a powerful performance. I like this movie. I'd rather pick "Mud" over all thosde pricey movies like "Iron Man 3" or "The Great Gatsby." As an independant film, "Mud" stands out as one of the best.
