This is an excellent movie. If you liked Braveheart (one of my favorites), you'll LOVE 13th warrior. This movie could have been a bit longer to fill-in some info., and there are parts that aren't very believable, but on the whole this is an excellent movie that is destined to be a "classic", IMHO. Don't miss this one- you'll regret it.

I can't believe I actually spent money to see this movie. This movie stunk even more than Event Horizon which had held the record for the most boring and unbelievable flick I had ever seen. The premise and situations which are depicted in this movie are so incredibly unbelievable you have to be a total idiot to actually find anything about it that could be enjoyable other than its stupidity. From Antopnio Banderas learning his foreign cohorts mysterious tongue by watching them form their words, to watching just eight or nine of the remaining warriors fighting off literally hundreds or even thousands of the enemies this flick is totally unbelievable and not even in the slightest entertaining. And the movie never even tells you why this battle is going on. FORGET ABOUT IT ! ! !

Well, I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

It’s full of gritty action, realistic settings and exciting characters that are not the usual Hollywood clichéd types.

The story is a tad unbelievable, but poetic license is used here, literally, as the story by Michael Crichton is loosely based on the ancient Anglo-Saxon poem ‘Beowulf’

Anglo-Saxons were Vikings and, although Antonio Banderas is the star, it’s the Viking group who this movie is primarily concerned with.

Banderas is an Arab courtier who finds himself on a mission with a band of Vikings to do battle with what they call “The eaters of the dead”.

It is very reminiscent in parts (Especially the battles) to movies like Zulu, Brave Heart and Gladiator.

The critics really knocked this movie so there’s a recommendation to see it in itself. I thought it was great fun and definitely one for my collection. Watch it if you enjoyed the battle at the beginning of Gladiator.
