"Robin and the Seven Hoods" isn't as good as "Ocean's 11," but it had enough moments to recommend. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin,Sammy Davis Jr. and Bing Crosby head this all-star line-up about mobsters in the 1920's.
Some good musical moments round out the movie. It was on the set of "Robin and the Seven Hoods," that they learn of the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
A nice lighthearted movie that seems to go down particularly well at Christmas.
Most of the 'Rat Pack' star in a tale set in 1920's prohibition Chicago and based loosely on the Robin Hood legend.
Yes it is a musical, with some great songs including the classic Frankie number "My Kind Of Town" But don't let that put you off. There's also plenty of drama and heaps of laughs. Keep an eye out (No pun intended) for the fantastic 'Machine Gun' dance scene by Sammy Davis Jr.
All in all a great afternoons entertainment and probably a good one for the classics section of your collection.

The funeral scene for Edward G. Robinson's character was filmed in a real cemetary. While there, Sinatra came across an actual gravestone for a "John F. Kennedy, 1800 - 1878." They joked about it the rest of the day, until someone turned on a car radio that afternoon of November 22, 1963
Another scene, which was never used in the finished film, was a kidnapping scene, filmed the same day as Frank Jr. was kidnapped.
