A better title would have been "I was a teenaged teenager." But I'll accept the title of this film. this is a movie about a girl growing up and acepting life as it goes by. You probaby heard of the plot before, but this movie is totally different. the film takes the point of view of a teenage girl and it goes for the hard reality and it doesn't take the cheap way out. Bel Powley is brilliant as Minnie Goetze, a 15 year-old girl who has sexual realtions with an older man(Alexander Skarsgard) who is also her mother's boyfriend. she recorded her stuff on tape and also she likes to draw cartoons. Although this is a R rated movie, it came close to be rated an NC-17 movie. What i like about a R rated movie is that R rated movie are there for a reason, R rated movie are rated R just for language and violence, but "I was a Teenage Girl" carried a bit further with the nudity and the sexual scenes. This movie is uncontrollable with the R rating and wants to push the NC-17 button. this is a eye opening view of the things the girl goes though on the road to adulthood.
