I liked most of Linklater's other films and I liked this a lot too. Philosophical.

One of the best animation movies this year. "A Scanner Darkly" is an animated film about an weird world where drugs are legal and the war on drugs is lost, but the fight goes on. Keanu Reeves plays an undercover cop who is assign to spy on his drug-out friends for the police. Later in the movie he too will become an addict. The movie is shot in amination to get the fell for the way the addict sees him, both somber and drugged out. If this film was shot in live action format, it wouldn't have work that well. Robert Downey Jr. gave an amazing performance. I'm glad to see Winoma Ryder back on the big screen again. The movie is based on the book by Phillip K. Dick, which was based on his drug experiences.
