Loved the action and special effects. This movie had me sitting on the edge of my seat at times. Go see Silent Hill but don't take the kids. They'll have nightmares for a week.
I must not have seen the same "Silent Hill " movie as the other person seen. The one I was at was one of the worst have seen. Ranks even lower than "Wolf Creek" and "the Hills Have Eyes". No acting, not much of a story line. I fell asleep at one point. I hate to say stay away to any movie, but there are limits.
"Silent Hill" is one of the first good horror movie to come out of 2006. Since it's not screened for the critics, I probaby give it a shot. This movie has a story you can follow. Not much can be said about the other horror films that came out this year. Sure, It has violence and gore, but it did slow the action down. Radha Mitchell played a woman who is searching the town of Silent Hill for her daughter. The town is abandoned by a coal mining tragedy that took place 30 years before. The town's only residents are a group of witch hunters who huddled in a church when the darkness comes. Another film which Radha Mitchell appeared in is "Pitch Black." It's about a group of monsters who come out of their holes when the planet goes dark. The film is scary to the core. the monsters are scary and so are the bugs, who are probaby bigger than the ones in "King Kong." The scariest part of the movie is that there a siren, warning people of possible doom. Then the skies will go dark and anything that will come out of that darkness will not be human. There are a few problems with the movie, but there is enough to recommend "Silent Hill." It's scary and you been warned.
To me, this film played more like a video game than a movie - it was not very dramatic or scary. Surprisingly complex plot for a horror movie.
