"Dreamgirls" is a good musical, not a great musical. When the film got 8 Academy Award nominations, the got shut of best picture and best director. I for one wasn't surprise by the omission. All this talk about "Dreamgirls" getting shut out of Best Picture, is all but a lot of hot air. Don't get me wrong, I like the movie, but If were an Academy Awards voter, I wouldn't vote for this movie. The film is based on the 1981 musical of the same name, it followed the rise of girl group though the 60's and 70's. I never saw the stage version, but I like the musical noneless.
