Loved it! Not fast paced but an excellent story line and DeNiro as a "pirate"....too funny!!! Definitely not his typical role.
I thought Claire Danes did an excellent job with his character- going from innocence to maturity in the course of the movie and Michelle Pfeiffer did an excellent job as an evil witch. The story was very entertaining.
I like "Stardust," but I didn't outright like the movie. There are a few problems, but I decided to go ahead and recommend the mvoe on the strength of one perfroamcne. In the past no matter how much I like the character, I can';t recommend the film on the basis on one character, and that character in question is Claire Danes. Not only did she dominated her character, but she dominated the movie. I saw a picture of her in the Friday's entertainment section of The Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sum-Times, lying on the ground. That pose alone is very sexy. Michelle Pfieffer pull all the stops to be sexy and here we Danes lying on the ground anc achieving what Pfeiffer can't, she was sexy without even trying. A few weeks ago, I recommend another film "Evening," solly because of the performance by Danes, which helped saved this movie. Now in "Stardust," Danes dominated the film and even if the film starts to run out of steam, It's Danes who has the power to carry the movie. the rest of the movie is good, but not very great. It's an "Chronicles of Narnia" geared to a much older crowd. I has some nice moments, the wall which seperate England from the magic kingdom is nice. The cast is fine, but Danes is the strongest of the cast and watching her carry this movie is more fun than watching the movie itself. A mild recommend for "Stardust."
Don't understand why this was rated PG-13. More like a G movie to me. Actually, kind of boring.....
