I wish there was an OK rating rather than good. It was a funny movie, but not for kids.

"Tropic Thunder" is a comic crossover between 'Platoon" and "The French Lieutenant's Woman." This movie is about a group of actors led by Ben Stiller, who directed ans co-wrote the movie, become soliders in real life when they had to battle drug dealers. This film is very funny. Jack black and Robert Downey Jr. are in fine form. Downey Jr's playing a white actor in black make-up is very funny. I found myself laughing at a few scenes. Nothing new. In previous comedies, I sat there in silence. While the film had it premiere in Los angles at the Westwood theatre (I was there in 1998 for a movie), a group of the mental challenged had protest the movie. Complaining of the many times they used the R word. In other words the R word is the new N word. I don't buy it. The can complain and protest, but the bottom line is boycotts don't work. If you don't like the movie, don't see it. As for the movie, "Tropic Thunder" is a satire of the politics of Hollywood. this could be Stiller's best work as both director and actor.

Incredibly terrible movie...

If you are looking for a laugh this is a good one. It's got some graphics that are a bit too graphic, there is some foul language... but all in all we laughed pretty hard. There were some classic scenes. Good thing to see on an evening you just want to get out and have a laugh.
