One of the best moves that I saw in the last 12 months came from Romania, where the film industry is beginning to grow. "4 Months, 3 weeks and 2 Days" is a powerful drama about two women in Romana who go seeking an abortion. Laura Vasiliu plays Gabita who is a student and her friend Otilia (Anamaria Marinca). Otilia gets pregeant and with help from Gabita, seeks an illeagal abortion. the film takes place in 1987 where Ceausescu"s rule forbide all abortions. Not for religion reason since romania is a communist state, but to keep the population growing. I was on the edge of my seat thoughout the movie wondering what will happen next. The two actresses Vasiliu and Marinca, both played their roles brilliantly. the character of Mr. Bebe (Viad Ivanov) is the scariest movie character in a long time. I would strongly recommend this movie, not on the subject Abortion in Romaina, but to see how life is like in that country. This movie doesn't take sides in the Abortion battle. As for Laura Vasiliu and Anamaria Marinca, I hope to see them again in another movie.
