Warren Beatty makes his big screen debut after years on television in "Spender in the Grass" from 1961. Beatty plays a high school football team who gets pushed around by his father who wants him to be better. he falls for a girls played by Natalie Wood in a excellent performance. Her character can be a emotiuonal powerhouse, setting the tone for the whole movie. Warren Beatty may have the lead, but it was the emotional perfromance by Wood stole the movie. The film was directed by Elia Kazan, who made a lot of great movies including "A Streetcar named Desire" and "On the Waterfront. This movie is a work of art. This movie also features Sandy Dennis, who will be make her presence know later this decade.
