One of the best war movies of all time is a anti-war movie from 1930 called "All Quiet on the Western Front." the movie was based on the novel by Erich Maria Remarque. A powerful piece of cinema about the horrors of the First World War as seen though the eyes of those who fought it. it tells the story of German boys who sign up to fight, but came home as broken veterans. what they saw, we saw too. the camera never looked away as one after another were killed in the fields and in the trenches of France. One of the most powerful scene in the movie, occurred towards the end when a soilder noticed a butterfly nearby, He tried to reached out for the butterfly and in the end was shot to death. the final shot of the soliders walking away, looking back. "All Quiet on the Western Front," is a powerful statement , not only on this war, but others war right up to the present day. We see men cheerfully go to war and come back broken and defeated. I strongly recommend a tjurly classic war movie. It's "All Quiet on the Western Front."
