"From Here to Eternity" is a great 1953 movie about Pearl Harbor on the eve of the Japanese attack. The film is directed by Fred Zmmermann, which has earned an Academy Awards for Frank Sinatra and Donna Reed as well as for best Director and Picture.
The movie is done very well with memorable characters. Burt Landcaster leads the casr as Sargeant Milton Warden. Sinatra gave the most memmerable performance as Angelo Maggio who had run in with Sargeant "Fatso" Judson, played by Ernest Borgnine.
A few years ago "Pearl Harbor," the blockbuster movie event of the summer came out with its special effects and very little story line. In "From Here to Eternity," there were little special effects, but the film has a well-written storyline by Daniel Taradash, based on the novel by James Jones. This is an old movie that is 50 years old. Embrace it performances and its ideas, don't be scare away just because the film is old.
"From Here to Eternity" is must see.
