[--- Stay Away! ---]by Erik Trimberger Jan 25, 2000

This movie very well might have the laziest screenplay of any movie I've ever seen. Most of the supporting characters are reduced to not being fully developed (i.e. Jill Hennessey, Eric Roberts, Sorvino). The finer points of the plot (of which there are barely any) are glossed over as the movie does all your thinking for you. Where this movie doesn't think for you the gaps are wide enough to drive a Mack truck through (i.e what are Sorvino's and Robert's characters supposed to be doing in this movie?) You can see most everything that is going to happen miles ahead of time. The couple attempts at cheesy humor that are sometimes seen in action flicks come off really sophomoric. If you are daft enough to waste your time watching this bad excuse for a movie you will either fall asleep or look at your watch many times.

First of all....I hated it. It was boring, stupid, dumb, and just plain waste of money. The First Lady (who looks a bit like Hillary) is accidentally assassinated by a rogue arm of the US military. Naturally the country is upset and the hunt begins for her killer. Who is the killer? Well it wasn't Keenen but the world sure thinks it is, so everyone on the street is looking for him...the homeless, the shop keepers, kids, and even the police. This film could easily win an award for one of the top five worst films of the year. But to claim the prize, you have to know why. I'll explain. Keenen is in jail for having killed his commander in Desert Storm (that last police action we had or was it a war?) While serving as a sniper, he was ordered to kill a courier, but he couldn't because the courier was just a kid, so the commander pointed a gun at Keenen and Keenen had to kill him. Okay, now Jon Voight comes along, he is a rogue General, who is a member of that industrial-military complex that Ike warned us about (Editors Note: Ike is short for Eisenhower and he was a President a long-time ago). Now bring in the First Lady, she finds out about something that Jon is involved in and he has her killed...making it look like Oswald...I mean, Keenen did it.I won't tell you anymore....I will leave you in suspense as to whether or not Keenen gets away long enough to clear his name. My main complaint about this film...Keenen should have just gone to the Los Angeles Police Department and explained the situation, they would definitely have bent over backwards to help out a citizen wrongly accused of a crime. Bottom line....not since "Last Man Standing" have I disliked a film so much.
