2008 MTV Movie Award Nominations Announced

Posted on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 12:33 PM

The nominees for the 2008 MTV Movie Awards have been announced. The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 1st at 8pm ET (7pm CT), and will be hosted by Mike Myers (see related article).

Nerds, pirates, and robots dominated, with Superbad garnering five nominations and Juno getting four.

"As someone who had his nose rubbed up against a locker or two, it's great to see my cinematic nerd brothers get their just rewards," said Van Toffler, President, MTV Networks Music, Logo and Films Group. "It's our audience that has made these movies huge box office hits and they've clearly spoken by nominating films with strong characters they can all relate to."

Last year's MTV Movie Awards saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest getting the Golden Popcorn for Best Movie.
