Kerasotes Showplace Theatres, LLC completed a transaction to acquire two Chicago theatres, the Webster Place 11 and City North 14, from AMC on Thursday, June 8. Management of the two theatres by Kerasotes will commence Friday, June 9. Chicago based Kerasotes Showplace Theatres, LLC was founded in 1909 when Gus Kerasotes opened his first nickelodeon, the Royal, in Springfield, Illinois. Louis and Nicholas Kerasotes, Gus’ sons, later led the business as Kerasotes Theatres grew to a regional company with 50 theatres by the mid 1960’s. Today Kerasotes is principally managed by third generation family, Tony and Dean Kerasotes, who have led the company’s aggressive growth since 1985. Several current projects highlight the company’s emphasis on the Chicago market. Its new flagship, Showplace 16 Naperville, will open June 16. Two projects currently under construction, ShowPlace 12 at the Golf Mill Center in Niles and Showplace 14 in Cicero, will open in the fall of this year. Today, Kerasotes Showplace Theatres is the nation’s 7th largest exhibitor operating 79 theatres with 659 screens in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa, and Ohio. Features that customers at the City North and Webster Place can come to expect include:
  • Fast service concession bars featuring our popular “Movie Combos,” the best popcorn in town, Coca-Cola beverages, ICEE drinks, hot dogs, hot pretzels, nachos, bottled water, and more
  • Free refill on all sizes of popcorn, soft drinks, and ICEEs
  • Features and show times available via phone at 1-800-Fandango (express code 1641 for Webster Place and express code 1642 for City North)
  • Internet Ticketing
  • Matinee Movie Magic for Moms (& Dads) – see movies in a “baby friendly” environment the 1st matinee showings every Tuesday
Moviegoers will be able to choose from a terrific line-up of major motion pictures when City North and Webster Place open the doors June 9th. The Pixar animated feature “Cars” debuts at the City North, with “X-Men 3,” “The Da Vinci Code” and “Over the Hedge” among the films holding over. The highly acclaimed “A Prairie Home Companion” makes its debut at the Webster Place, with “The Omen,” and “The Break-Up” among other films continuing their run of engagement.
