A twelve-screen movie theater will be located at OneDaytona, across from the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. According to a recent news article in The Daytona Beach News-Journal, the new movie theater will be operated by Cobb Theatres and should open in early 2017:

International Speedway Corp. officials say they plan to break ground on a Cobb Theatres movie complex across the street from Daytona International Speedway by year's end.

If that goal is met, the 12-screen movie theater would likely be completed within the first three months of 2017, making it the first tenant to open at the long-awaited 181-acre One Daytona mixed-use complex, said Jeff Boerger, ISC's managing director of corporate development.

:

"One of the original partners in this project has been Cobb Theatres. They've been a solid partner," said Boerger in an interview with The News-Journal explaining the decision to kick off the initial phase with the movie complex as opposed to opening everything at the same time.

Jeremy Welman, chief operating officer for Cobb Theatres, said the Daytona Beach movie complex will include a Cobbster's Kitchen restaurant in the lobby that will include a dining area, outdoor patio and full-service bar that serves beer, wine and liquor. The eatery's menu will include hamburgers, pizza and salads as well as other fresh, made-to-order offerings. The complex will include a separate concession stand that sells traditional movie fare such as popcorn, candy and soft drinks.

Each of the movie complex's auditoriums will feature digital projection and sound, with half of the screens capable of showing 3-D movies. The largest auditorium will feature a screen that is 80 feet wide and four stories tall. All auditoriums will have leather, electronically controlled recliner seats. One auditorium will be equipped to offer a "4-D" experience with motion seats synchronized to the action of the movie being shown, Welman said.

A movie theater has been planned for this area going back to April 2008, when Cobb Theatres was identified as a partner in the Daytona Live! project (which later became OneDaytona under a different developer).

Cobb Theatres operates movie theaters in Florida and six other states. The closest movie theaters to this location are the Paragon Ocean Walk 10 and the Regal Ormond Beach Cinema 12.
