Years ago, the UA Foothills Twin showed movies near the Foothills Mall in Fort Collins, Colorado, making it easy for those shopping at the mall to take in a movie. Since it closed, the best mall shoppers could do is to cross College Avenue to see movies at the Carmike 10 - Fort Collins.

The Reporter-Herald is reporting that the mall's new owners are planning to bring movies back:

The redevelopment specialists who bought Fort Collins' Foothills Mall this summer have a bit more than a face-lift in mind for the distressed property.

A hybrid indoor-outdoor shopping experience.

Dramatic glass-wall entries visually connecting park-like lawns on the east and west.

Possibly a large "fork-and-spoon" movie theater.

:

Alberta Partners is talking with three different theater operators about bringing movies back to Foothills, McFarland said.

The theater could have 12 to 16 screens, he said. "It may be a fork-and-spoon cinema, a theater that has a restaurant and bar in it. They'll actually serve you at your seat."

He said the new theater at The Streets at Southglenn offers at-your-seat dining and has become one of the metro area's most popular multiplexes.

The article mentions that it's possible that at least certain portions of the redeveloped mall could open as soon as December 2014. Click the Read link below to view the full article.
