The Sundance Houston in Houston, Texas is scheduled to open on November 23, 2011, according to the web site of Sundance Cinemas. The theater is in the same location as the former Angelika Film Center, which closed abruptly in 2010.

The Houston Chronicle as an article about the new theater that has quite a few photos as well.

Downtown's new Sundance cinema will open next month in Bayou Place, bringing an art house theater to downtown after the abrupt closing of the Angelika Film Center more than a year ago.

"We need to rebrand this and raise the profile to get it back in people's consciousness," Paul Richardson, president and CEO of Sundance Cinemas, said Wednesday after a tour of the space, which is nearing completion of a more than $3 million renovation. The theater will open to the public on Nov. 23.

The new theater is the third in the Los Angeles-based chain, which spun out of actor and director Robert Redford's Sundance Group. The other two are in San Francisco and Madison, Wis.

The newly designed space will be a sharp contrast from the former Angelika, Richardson said.
