Monroeville, PA: Cinemark Monroeville Mall and XD Now Open

Posted on Friday, November 8, 2013 4:25 PM

Cinemark logoThe Cinemark Monroeville Mall and XD in Monroeville, Pennsylvania opened its doors to the public on Thursday, November 7, 2013. Monroeville has been without a movie theater since the Carmike Monroeville 4 on the outskirts of the mall property was closed in 1998 to make room for a Best Buy location.

An article published this week in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette talks about the company's "NextGen" concept for this location, which is a first for Cinemark in the area:

"As in next generation of theaters," Bryan Jeffries, marketing director of the Plano, Texas-based chain, said Tuesday in the lobby of the theater crowned by a colorful mural celebrating the movie experience.

"That has more to do with everything is modern amenities, all the way from online ticketing to we have our own butter station," not that he's calling that groundbreaking technology, but it gives customers the control. A traditional box office with multiple stations is also available in the lobby to the left.

"In the auditoriums, it's all state-of-the-art digital sound, digital projection. All 12 auditoriums have wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling screens," Mr. Jeffries said.

  • 4K digital projection powered by Barco projectors; RealD 3D capability in six auditoriums
  • Enhanced, sound systems that will enable customers to hear the movie as the filmmakers intended
  • A famous Cinemark concession stand - offering freshly-popped popcorn, Coca-Cola fountain beverages and favorite candy brands
  • Party room for birthdays and celebrations
