Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal star as a divorced couple discovering dark truths about each other and themselves in the drama Nocturnal Animals, which is going to be available on Blu-ray and DVD on February 21, 2017, according to a press release issued recently by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The streaming Digital HD version will be available February 7th.
Adams plays Susan, who is in an unfulfilling second marriage when she receives a package containing a manuscript from her ex-husband, Edward (Gyllenhaal). Moved by Edward's writing, Susan cannot help but reminisce over the most private moments from her own love story with the author. Trying to look within herself and beyond the glossy surface of the life and career that she has made, Susan increasingly interprets the book as a tale of revenge, a tale that forces her to re-evaluate the choices that she has made, and re-awakens a love that she feared was lost. Michael Shannon was honored with a nomination for the upcoming Academy Awards for his supporting role.
The movie opened in limited theaters on November 18th, 2016 and when it was released nationwide on December 9th, it reached the #7 spot in that weekend's Box Office Report. It's still playing in less than two dozen theaters nationwide. Its release on February 21st is a short 74 days from that latter date.
