Regal Entertainment Group and Paramount Pictures are trying something new with the upcoming release of the Brad Pitt zombie thriller, World War Z. They are offering a package of a movie ticket for an advance showing of World War Z 3D, branded 3D glasses, an official, full-size movie poster, a small popcorn, and a digital download of the movie (when it becomes available), all for the price of $50.

This offer is available at select Regal locations in just five cities:

The movie opens nationwide on June 21st (with evening shows the night before), so this gets you into the movie a day earlier. It also gets you a copy of the movie for your own use, but not until it's generally available, so it's not like you'll be able to watch it on your iPad the day after seeing it in the theater. The small popcorn and the movie poster rounds out a package that they are saying is worth $75.

Whether it's worth $50 remains to be seen, and it will be up to each individual to decide. If you think so, feel free to click the Read link below and buy your tickets now!

They should be applauded for trying something different, but this might be an example of the wrong package, for the wrong movie, and at the wrong price.

Thanks to reader Ron H. for passing this along!

What Do You Think?

They are obviously putting this out there to gauge consumer reaction. So, let them have it! What do you think about paying $50 for a package like this? Leave your comments below!
