October 21, 2015, is a day made famous in Back to the Future Part II as the pivotal day that Marty and Doc traveled to at the end of Back to the Future in order to save Marty's future family from disaster. Today has been declared "Back to the Future Day" and many theaters around the country are showing the movie, as well as marathon showings of all three in the series. (Search for "Back to the Future" to find all related showings)
To celebrate the release of the third movie, Back to the Future Part III, select movie theaters around the country held "back-to-back-to-back" marathons on May 24, 1990. Today's festivities remind me of going down to Chicago that day with some co-workers for the event (the Lincoln Village 7-9 I believe). I even managed to find the T-shirt, which is pictured to the right.
There was quite a line waiting to get into the theater, and I recall there being the requisite DeLorean parked in front. It was a lot of fun, and I also remember the long drive home late at night, and the difficult job of going to work the next day.
Events like this make fun movies even more enjoyable, and it's an experience that's nearly impossible to replicate anywhere but a movie theater. I hope that the people going out to the events today and the next couple of days have just as much fun, and maybe they'll even get a T-shirt they can hang onto for 25 years...
That said, if you can't get to a theater and you still want to enjoy a marathon of your own, you can purchase the Back to the Future trilogy at retailers. In conjunction with this most special of days, a new set of Blu-ray titles have been released, so check out the links below for more information!

On Oct 21st, I was on Facebook and Twitter wishing everyone a Happy Back to the future Day. At 4:29 the time that Marty McFly and Doc Brown arrived, I was watching the film "He Named Me Malala!" at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Kalamazoo. The theatre ran all three Back to the Future movies and they're sold out.
