Movie PosterSelma, the Academy Award-winning movie about the civil rights movement, is being re-released in theaters starting today.

Paramount Pictures announced a promotion in conjunction with this re-release where moviegoers who buy a ticket for the movie can receive an additional ticket free. The offer is only available at participating theater box offices, so you won't be able to order your tickets in advance if you want to take advantage of the promotion.

Selma is a story that chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most significant victories for the civil rights movement.

The movie won an Academy Award® and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for "Glory" by Common and John Legend. (listen to a sample) It received nominations for an Academy Award® for Best Picture and Golden Globe Awards for Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director.

We are currently seeing over 600 locations playing the movie today, so you can see where and when it's playing near you by visiting the Showtimes page for Selma.

The movie isn't due to be released on home video until May 2, 2015, so if you are interested in seeing it, this re-release will be your best chance for over a month.
