The Lion Guard: Return Of The Roar, a TV movie sequel to The Lion King, will be shown on Disney Channel on November 22 at 7PM.
Join Kion, second born cub of Simba and Nala, as he takes on the leadership of the Lion Guard and assembles of the best and brightest who will help maintain the Prideland and keep the circle of life intact. Kion gathers not a team of lions, as tradition has dictated, but his own Lion Guard team of the Pride Lands’ fiercest, bravest, strongest, fastest, and keenest of sight. But Kion himself must learn the power of his roar before a genuine and lasting peace can come to the Pridelands.
Max Charles (who provided the voice of Sherman in Mr. Peabody & Sherman) provides the voice of Kion, with Rob Lowe and Gabrielle Union as Simba and Nala, with The Middle's Atticus Shaffer and Modern Family's Sarah Hyland also part of the voice cast. James Earl Jones and Ernie Sabella reprise their original roles as Mufasa and Pumbaa, which is a nice continuation of the series.
Two other sequels have been released, The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride and The Lion King 1 1/2, both of which were released straight-to-video.
Here is a teaser for the movie:
Industry web site Deadline.com mentions that The Lion Guard is set to become a new series, so if you enjoy this TV movie, it sounds as though more will be on the way!
