Premiere Cinema Announces Multi Million Dollar Renovation
2012 - Tomball, TX. Premiere Cinema Corp. has announced it is "gutting and renovating" it's long-established Tomball Cinema location in the Four Corners Shopping Center this year. The cinema is located on Highway 249 about 15 miles north of Houston and has been operated by several theatre circuits through the years before being acquired by Premiere in 2000.
Company CEO Gary Moore announced the multi-million dollar renovation today, saying the re-emergence of the shopping center and the cinema are long-overdue. "This has been in the works for about 5 years now," he told reporters Monday. "We've been in talks with the center about making this a reality and are thrilled we can finally tell our customers it's happening."
Premiere has been waiting out the re-development of the entire shopping center which is now underway. The shopping center is undergoing major renovations according to property manager Rob Whitaker, including retail expansion, new parking lot, pylon signage and a modern new facade. Contractors have been working on site since early June.
"It's a great property at a great location," said Mr. Moore. "Tomball has been so loyal to this theatre for a lot of years so it's our turn to give back to them. We're turning this quaint little neighborhood theatre into a great state-of-the-art all-stadium digital multiplex, but we're doing it in such a way as to still maintain the best value to the consumer in the process."
Indeed, the entire cinema complex is being taken to the studs starting around Labor Day and will reopen with first-run movies around Thanksgiving, an 11-week conversion schedule. During construction, all the auditoriums are being converted to stadium-seating, and Premiere will be installing its signature high-back rocking chairs. A new wide-screen auditorium is also being added to the facility bring the screen-count to 7-screens. New rest rooms, concession stand, video arcade room, and lobbies will also be added. "You won't believe what you see," Mr. Moore said of the transformation, "But you're going to love it."
Other updates are being done as well. The location gets a new fire-protection system (sprinkler) per municipal code. The front canopy of the shopping center is being converted to interior space, and an entire new lobby, concession and game room will be built at the front of the facility according to blueprints filed with the City of Tomball today.
Prices are expected to remain highly-competitive according to Premiere Director Jennifer Mendoza, who added the location will continue to offer "the best movie-going value around. "We hate to be closed for a couple of months but it's a major construction project, there was not really a way to stage it out and remain open during the process but that's the price you pay for progress. I know it will be worth it once we reopen!"
All shows will be cancelled between Labor Day and late November, but the facility is expected to reopen prior to the Thanksgiving holidays.
