The Cinemark Warren 16 in Warren, Michigan has closed, and will reopen in early 2017 under the management of MJR Theatres. with a new name, the MJR Universal Grand Cinema 16.
According to several articles we found from back in August 2016 (see below), the theater was to remain open until December 1, 2016, but the last showtimes we received for the theater was on November 17th. The article from Crain's Detroit Busines states that Cinemark declined to renew their lease, and that MJR will begin a $4.4 million renovation project. The article from the Macomb Daily says that MJR plans to reopen the theater in mid-February 2017.
Until the theater reopens, moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, such as the AMC Star John R 15 in Madison Heights, the Emagine Royal Oak Theatre or the Landmark Main Art Theatre in Royal Oak, all of which are within three miles of this theater's location.
MJR Theatres currently operates nine locations in Michigan, including the MJR Troy Grand Digital Cinema 16 in Troy and the MJR Marketplace Digital Cinema 20 in Sterling Heights.

i recalled checking the movie listing in the Detroit free Press. I am impress with this movie theater, mainly because they only show second-run movies. i don't know whatever or not the second run format will continue under the MJR management, but personally, I doubt it.
