Which is the Bigger Summer Movie, Harry Potter or Transformers?

Posted on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 9:54 PM

As we wrap up the month of May, the first round of Summer Blockbusters has already been released!

X-Men Origins: Wolverine started off the month and it's still in the Top 10 Box Office report, with a total gross of over $165 million.

Star Trek came in a week later and was greeted with quite a bit of praise, which is carrying it at the top of each week's box office rankings (it's currently #3).

Angels & Demons is doing OK, but reviews haven't been glowing, and the recent release of both Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and Terminator Salvation have eclipsed it pretty easily.

The last big release of the month will come on Friday when Disney/Pixar's Up gets released. It's already getting pretty good reviews, and it will probably be a better test of audience reaction to 3D than Monsters vs. Aliens was.

Now, the next two big movies coming up are Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on June 24th and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on July 15th.

As you can see by the Coming Soon page, more people have marked Harry Potter as a Favorite Movie than Transformers.

Does Megan Fox have more star power than Emma Watson?
Autobot and Decepticon fans, are you going to let that happen?

Show your love for your favorite movies by going to the Coming Soon page (or the details page for each movie) and add it to your Favorite Movies list!

I've marked the Harry Potter movie as one of my favorites, as I have no plans to see Transformers 2. I'll be watching the reviews and maybe they'll change my mind, but I'll put my money on Harry Potter taking Transformers in the review category. Time will tell if the Box Office will agree...
