The Hartford Courant is reporting that the Showcase Cinema in East Windsor, Connecticut will be closing on Sunday, March 2, 2008:
[National Amusements], which operates more than 1,500 theater screens across the world, said it plans to shut down the movie theater and attempt to relocate its 47 employees to other National Amusement theaters. Showcase Cinemas East Windsor opened for business in 1994 and operates 12 screens.
"...this is not a decision we make lightly. We are making every effort to find these employees other opportunities within our company," said Wanda Whitson, a company spokeswoman. "We also wish to thank our loyal patrons who have shared great movies and memories with us over the years."
This news comes at the same time as National Amusements is closing the Showcase Cinemas Orange in Orange, Connecticut. In both cases, financial reasons were cited as the reason for the closures.
