With all the press that boxes like the Vudu and Roku Netflix Player are getting, you may not realize that you can buy and rent movies and TV shows and download them right away, without any extra hardware, from Amazon.com.

Amazon's Unbox service makes it possible to rent new releases like Charlie Wilson's War and Cloverfield for $3.99, or if you want to buy them, they are also available for purchase for $14.99. The prices for rentals and purchases vary by movie, with some as low as $1.99 (Jerry Maguire or Men in Black, anyone?) for rentals and $8.99 for purchases. Another Will Smith classic, Independence Day, is just $7.49!
