The Crescent News is reporting that the Northtowne 9 theater in Defiance, Ohio has changed ownership as of yesterday. Regal Cinemas no longer operates the Northtowne, which is now part of Defiance Theaters, Inc.

Late this morning and early this afternoon, Michael Sobkowiak, general manager of Defiance Theaters Inc., was at the mall preparing for a quick turnover from Regal Cinemas to his family-run business, which also operates four movie theaters in Pennsylvania and one in Kent.

"We're a family-run (independent) business," Sobkowiak said, noting that, unlike a large corporate theater company such as Regal, "we can adapt the theater to the local setting."
