To finish what they started back in June, Marcus Theatres has announced that they will be opening the new "UltraScreen" auditorium at the Marcus Orland Park Cinemas in Orland Park, Illinois tomorrow, November 26, 2008.
The UltraScreen is a new 400-seat auditorium that features a 70-foot wide screen, stadium seating, and digital sound. Bruce J. Olson, president of Marcus Theatres, said:
"Audiences will see the latest Hollywood blockbusters in vivid color on a wall-to-wall sized screen with unbelievably cutting-edge, crystal clear, sharp images. The UltraScreen experience takes moviegoing to a totally new level of excitement and entertainment and is one of the most dynamic experiences in the industry today."
The press release (included below) does not mention if the new auditorium will be equipped with a Digital Cinema projection system, or if there will be VIP seating similar to what was done in their Majestic Cinema in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The lack of such mentions lead me to believe that they will not.
While we already have showtimes for the Orland Park Cinemas for tomorrow and forward, there are no mentions of which shows will be in the UltraScreen. Typically, Marcus will add that information to the notes that appear below the showtimes, so it may take a few update cycles for them to include that information.
Marcus Theatres(R) Orland Park, Ill. UltraScreen(R) to Open November 26
Will be Marcus Theatres' twelfth UltraScreen auditorium
MILWAUKEE, Nov 25, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Marcus Theatres(R), a division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), today announced that its new 70-foot-wide UltraScreen(R) at the Orland Park Cinema, 16350 South LaGrange Road, will open November 26 in time for the holiday season. The Orland Park UltraScreen is a completely new 400-seat auditorium designed and built from the ground up as a state-of-the-art showcase for moviegoers in the Chicago suburb of Orland Park and the surrounding areas. This will be the company's twelfth UltraScreen.
"Imagine watching the romantic action adventure film Australia, or enjoying the remake of the classic sci-fi film The Day the Earth Stood Still on a dramatic, 70-foot-wide screen. Now Orland Park moviegoers will be able to experience their favorite holiday films in an entirely new way," said Bruce J. Olson, president of Marcus Theatres(R). "Audiences will see the latest Hollywood blockbusters in vivid color on a wall-to-wall sized screen with unbelievably cutting-edge, crystal clear, sharp images. The UltraScreen experience takes moviegoing to a totally new level of excitement and entertainment and is one of the most dynamic experiences in the industry today," said Olson.
"A remarkable state-of-the-art digital sound system will be an impressive feature of the new UltraScreen, providing the most incredibly lifelike and dynamic digital sound possible. The new sound system features Crown International's innovative Digital B-Chain(TM) and JBL Professional's Academy Award(R) winning ScreenArray(R) cinema system. Marcus Theatres has brought these systems together to create a cinema audio experience that is the first of its kind at any theatre in North America," added Olson.
"The Orland Park UltraScreen is our second UltraScreen in Illinois and we are excited to bring this engaging experience to our guests. Moviegoers throughout the southern Chicago area will now be able to experience incredible lifelike images on a huge screen and discover the magical moviegoing experience provided by our UltraScreen just in time for the holiday season," said Olson.
In addition to the new UltraScreen auditorium in Orland Park, Ill., other UltraScreens are located at the company's theatres in Brookfield, Sturtevant, Appleton and Madison, Wis.; Elgin, Ill.; Oakdale, Minn.; Columbus and Pickerington, Ohio; Fargo, N.D. and Waterloo, Iowa.
