The latest Batman installment, The Dark Knight, was just released on DVD and Blu-ray today, but Warner Bros. has decided that audiences might like to take another look on the big screen!
The Dark Knight will have a return engagement in theaters and IMAX theaters starting January 23, 2009, coinciding nicely with the nominations announcement for the Academy Awards. There's no doubt that the studio would like to remind Academy members that the movie turned out to be the biggest smash of 2008, featured a stellar performance by the late Heath Ledger, and contained one of the best movie scores to come out for quite some time (even if some misguided souls would like to think that it isn't worth considering).
My theatrical experience with the movie was in an IMAX theater (some sequences of the movie were actually filmed with IMAX cameras), and I was really really impressed! I'm working on the review of the Blu-ray release right now, and I have to say that my first impression was spot-on, and it was great to be able to enjoy the movie again! Amazon just sent out the 2-CD Special Edition that has the complete score on it, so in a few days (if the mailman can get through the snow that has been hitting us on a near-daily basis), I'll be basking in everything that is Batman!
