Mequon, WI: Marcus North Shore Cinema Renovations Completed

Posted on Friday, May 22nd, 2009 12:01 PM by Scott Jentsch

Marcus Theatres announced this week that the renovations to the North Shore Cinema in Mequon, Wisconsin have been completed.

The most noticeable change to passers-by on I-43 and on Port Washington Road is the addition of a new covered entrance that is a welcome change from the somewhat bland and un-theater-like original entrance (see photo in the Photo Gallery). A new road sign also alerts drivers on Port Washington Road that there is more going on than just a new entrance, as it proudly announces the presence of one of Marcus' signature UltraScreens and a Zaffiro's Pizzaria and Bar.

“We are thrilled to announce the completion of our North Shore Cinema renovations,” said Bruce J. Olson, president of Marcus Theatres. “Once inside, guests will be greeted with a brand-new open lobby area featuring elegant, art-moderne styling, designer lighting, marble floors and relaxing music from a grand piano. The lobby is also home to a new box-office, in addition to an expanded concession area and the Hot Zone, where guests can enjoy Zaffiro’s pizza, sandwiches, wraps and popular appetizers hot and fresh.”

The UltraScreen at the North Shore Cinema features a 70-foot-wide screen and two levels, where the upper level contains an adults-only lounge and reserved seating. "Guests can enjoy a premium entertainment package which includes admission, food and beverage vouchers and complimentary reserved seating in UltraComfortable oversized chairs with side tables and reclining backs," said Olson.

Fans of thin-crust pizza will rejoice that Zaffiro’s Pizzeria and Bar will be open to the public and moviegoers alike every day for lunch and dinner. It also boasts a full selection of wine, beer and cocktails.

Not to be left out of the renovation fun, the theater's other 10 screens have received new seating with reclining backs and "memory foam" cushions.

Currently, we have two nighttime shots of the exterior of the building on the Photo Galleries page, but as time permits, we'll get some more photos of the exterior and interior as well. A video was taken of the Grand Opening, including the ceremonial "film cutting" in the new UltraScreen:
