Paramount Pictures has pushed the release date of the Martin Scorcese-Leonardo DiCaprio movie Shutter Island from October 2, 2009 to February 19, 2010.
According to an article in The Hollywood Reporter:
"Our 2009 slate was greenlit in a very different economic climate and as a result we must remain flexible and willing to recalibrate and adapt to a changing environment," said Paramount Pictures Chairman and CEO Brad Grey in a statement.

Fox Searchlight Pictures took the vacancy as an opportunity to move the Ellen Page / Drew Barrymore roller derby comedy Whip It from October 9th to October 2nd. Sony also moved up the zombie thriller Zombieland to October 2nd, but I would imagine that it won't have to worry too much about sharing audiences with the roller derby movie...
