Why Wait for Friday? Amazon Celebrates All Week with Great Deals!

Posted on Monday, November 23, 2009 1:48 PM

Quite a few stores are breaking with the yearly tradition of compressing all their deals into the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday), and Gift Shop merchant Amazon.com is taking it one step further by celebrating all week!

Black Friday Deals Week

With deals in every category, including electronics, movies, music, and more, you don't have to get up at 2am Friday morning to score some bargains!

According to the page linked above, Amazon is "searching for the best Black Friday deals everywhere--including deals other stores are planning--so we can meet or beat their prices and bring them to you even earlier."

Who can argue with great deals without having to leave the comfort of home/work, and get free shipping as well?

Some examples of the deals available include last year's Academy Award® winner Slumdog Millionaire on DVD for $7.99 ($14.99 on Blu-ray), as well as 11 Blu-ray Players under $200! Many retail stores will be showing the Samsung BD-P1600 in their Black Friday ads for approximately $150. That player is $149.99 at Amazon (Samsung BD-P1600 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player), and if you ordered it today, you could have it delivered by tomorrow or Wednesday and be watching movies while everyone else is standing in line just hoping to get one, and then standing in yet another line waiting to check out!

Sign up for a free Netflix two-week trial, and your first discs could be arriving on Wednesday as well, making staying home on Friday even sweeter!

Over in the MP3 downloads store, they're offering a deal where you can enter a code to get $3 in MP3's for free:

Now, we know that some people relish the idea of waking up before the sun does, battling the crowds, and enjoying the thrill of the hunt. That's great for them, but I'd rather spend that time watching movies instead!
