Freshman James Bond Daniel Craig impressed the movie's executives enough that he will reprise the role in the next movie in the series, currently labeled "Bond 22."
[James Bond franchise producers] Wilson and Broccoli lauded Craig for creating "a darker and edgier" protagonist. "As we wrap production on 'Casino Royale,' we couldn't be more excited about the direction the franchise is heading with Daniel Craig," they added.
The plot of Bond 22 has not been publicized, but rumors have it that it will be based on an original idea, and not based on the Ian Fleming books featuring Mr. Bond, James Bond.
Casino Royale will open in theaters on November 17, 2006.
