Cinemark has opened their latest XD "Extreme Digital Cinema" auditorium at Cinemark Tinseltown at Woodlands in The Woodlands, Texas, which is located just outside Houston. This is the 15th such opening in 2009, according to their press release, which is included below.
“We are very excited to open another Cinemark XD, Extreme Digital Cinema auditorium,” comments Alan Stock, Cinemark’s Chief Executive Officer. “Our valued customers in The Woodlands will truly enjoy this great entertainment experience. We have created an environment that engages all of your senses and pulls you into the movie. Each week we will show the newest and biggest movies in this XD auditorium, including 2D and Real D-3D pictures.”
One of the auditoriums at the 17-screen location has been converted to the large-screen concept, and it offers customers a very large screen and a sound system containing more than 30 speakers. The images are being generated by a Digital Cinema Projector that can display 2D and 3D movies.

Plano, TX, December 10, 2009 – Cinemark Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CNK), a leading motion picture exhibitor, today announced that a new Cinemark XD, Extreme Digital Cinema auditorium will open in The Woodlands, TX (Houston area) on December 11th. This marks the fifteenth Cinemark XD auditorium to open in 2009.

Cinemark has transformed one auditorium at the Tinseltown 17 into a cinema experience unlike any other in the Houston area. This new entertainment environment boasts a large, wall-to-wall & ceiling-to-floor silver screen, plush seating and a custom JBL sound system featuring over 30 speakers that produce crisp, clear digital sound. The digital images are delivered by the use of a Doremi server and a Barco digital projector with a light output of 30,000 lumens.
