Los Angeles, CA: LA Premiere of "How to Train Your Dragon" to be Held Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Gibson Amphitheatre

Posted on Friday, March 19th, 2010 2:38 PM by Scott Jentsch

Dreamworks Animation's upcoming movie, How to Train Your Dragon, will premiere at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on Sunday, March 21, 2010.

The screening will begin at 3pm at the theater, which is located at 100 Universal City Plaza. Celebrities will begin arriving at 2pm.

Set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons, and based on the book by Cressida Cowell, the action comedy tells the story of Hiccup, a Viking teenager who doesn't exactly fit in with his tribe's longstanding tradition of heroic dragon slayers. Hiccup's world is turned upside down when he encounters a dragon that challenges him and his fellow Vikings to see the world from an entirely different point of view.

The movie was created for 3D, but there was no indication in the press release from Paramount Pictures if the premiere was going to be in 3D (would celebrities be willing to be photographed wearing the funky glasses?).

When the movie opens on March 26th (next Friday), it will be available in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D. We have a collection of 25 photos from the movie, as well as 15 videos, including some funny dragon training clips. Showtimes are already available at select theaters, so select which variation of the movie you would like to see from the list to the right, and get your tickets now!

Expected to attend the premiere from the movie are Jay Baruchel (Hiccup), Gerard Butler (Stoick), Craig Ferguson (Gobber), America Ferrera (Astrid), Jonah Hill (Snotlout), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Fishlegs), TJ Miller (Tuffnut), Kristen Wiig (Ruffnut), Chris Sanders (director/co-writer), Dean DeBlois (director/co-writer), Will Davies (writer), Cressida Cowell (author – book), Kristine Belson (executive producer), Tim Johnson (executive producer), Bonnie Arnold (producer), Bruce Seifert (associate producer), and John Powell (composer).
