The Regal Cinemas Champlain Centre 8 in Plattsburgh, New York will be closing for major renovations on July 12, 2010, according to a press release from Regal Entertainment Group. They will show movies through Sunday, July 11th, and then close temporarily while crews work to make the improvements. They are hoping to re-open by the holidays.

"Our loyal moviegoers are going to be impressed with the improvements that will transform this theatre into a state-of-the-art entertainment center. Regal Entertainment Group is pleased to bring all digital projection, RealD 3D movies, stadium seating and more to Champlain Centre in time for the holiday movie season," stated Dick Westerling, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advertising for Regal Entertainment Group. "Regal is proud to offer these enhancements at a successful regional mall operated by the Pyramid Companies."

The list of amenities at the newly remodeled theater will include: 

• Digital projection in every auditorium
• RealD 3D projection systems
• Digital surround sound
• Stadium seating in every auditorium
• New high-back rocking recliner seats w/ retractable cup holders
• Remodeled lobby featuring a fully stocked concession stand
• Computerized box office located inside mall to protect patrons from the elements

While the theater is closed, moviegoers in the area will still have the Cumberland 12 at 18 North Bowl Lane in Plattsburgh. See the complete list of nearby theaters
