|Home: BigScreen Journal - Fairbanks, AK: Regal Goldstream Stadium 16 Gets IMAX Addition|
Less than three weeks after Alaska's first IMAX theater opened in Anchorage, the second has opened in Fairbanks!
On Tuesday, June 29th, the IMAX screen at the Regal Goldstream Stadium 16 in Fairbanks, Alaska opened to customers. The upcharge for IMAX movies is $6.00 for adults and $6.50 for children.
There isn't much information about the new IMAX screen, so we don't know what size it is. Screen sizes for multiplex IMAX theaters can be as large as 74' wide by 46' high or as small as 47'x24', but they are typically about 58'x28'.
The IMAX web site does report that this is a multiplex type of installation, capable of showing 2D and 3D movies with its two-projector digital projection system. The IMAX site also implies that an existing auditorium was converted to the IMAX format.
If Regal Entertainment Group or IMAX issues a press release about this new installation that contains more details, we'll update this Journal article.
