|Home: BigScreen Journal - Lakeland, FL: Dickinson Theatres Lakeland Square 10 Cinema Closes|
The Dickinson Theatres Lakeland Square 10 Cinema in Lakeland, Florida has closed its doors, according to an article on the web site for The Ledger:
The movie theater will shut down today at the end of business, according to John Yocum, assistant manager.
Yocum said the theater is being sold and is expected to reopen under new management, but officials at Kansas-based Dickinson Theatres, the current owner, could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Yocum said the theater has 18 employees; staff will likely not be retained.
He said business has been slow at the theater and the facility is in poor condition.
"The theater's not maintained," Yocum said. "We have lights out in the auditoriums, holes in the ceiling, light water damage, things like that."
He said two of auditoriums are currently out of service because of maintenance issues, including lack of sound in one auditorium.

Moviegoers in Lakeland do have other options, however. There are six theaters within 15 miles, including the Cobb Theaters Lakeside Village 18.
