The Midway Theater in Bethel, Ohio closed its doors in late August 2010. An announcement on the theater's web site from the owners just says that the theater is now closed under the current ownership, but left the door open that a new owner may re-open the theater.
The single-screen theater is currently listed for sale for $149,000. The real estate agency's listing for the property mentions that the owner is retiring.
According to the theater's entry on Cinema Treasures, the Midway Theater opened in 1938 and seated 400 people. It closed briefly in 2008, and was reopened later that year. The real estate listing says that the theater now seats 260 people.
Moviegoers in the Bethel area will now need to attend either the Starlite Drive-in or Greater Huntington Pierce Point 10 in nearby Amelia, or the Danbarry Dollar Saver - Eastgate in Cincinnati.
