Emma Stone has been cast as Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 4, which is set to open in theaters July 3rd, 2012.
Stone is currently starring in Easy A. The photo to the left is her in the movie, playing a clean cut high school girl who, after a white lie about losing her virginity, sees her life paralleling Hester Prynne's in "The Scarlet Letter," which she is currently studying in school – until she decides to use the rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.
Spider-Man 4 is getting a brand new cast and new direction from the previous movies in the series. For more information about the changes, read the Journal article: Spider-Man Franchise to be Rebooted without Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire, and Kirsten Dunst. The only other cast member officially announced is Andrew Garfield (currently starring in The Social Network) as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
2D, 3D, and IMAX releases are planned for the movie.
