The Pocono Record is reporting that the AMC Loews Stroud Mall 7 in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania closed on Sunday, December 12, 2010. As we mentioned back in July, the closing of the theater is part of a plan which will see the construction of a new 12-screen Cinemark theater near the Sears store.

Stores adjoining the old AMC Loews had to be vacated to make room for the larger, 34,866-square-foot multiplex. That included Vitamin World, The Dollar Tree and American Eagle stores. Vitamin World is moving to a different location in the mall. Mall offices will relocate next to Bon-Ton, and the theater near J.C. Penney will be converted to retail space.

Construction is set to begin soon, and the new theater is scheduled to open by Thanksgiving 2011. Until that time, moviegoers will need to visit one of the nearby theaters in East Stroudsburg and Mount Pocono.
