|Home: BigScreen Journal - Indianapolis, IN: AMC Loews College Park 14 Re-Opens as The Movie Buff Theatre on April 29, 2011|
After closing in July 2009, the AMC Loews College Park 14 in Indianapolis, Indiana is now going to greet moviegoers once again, but with a new owner and the new name of The Movie Buff Theatre.
Opening day is scheduled for this Friday, April 29, 2011, and the Indianapolis Business Journal interviewed the new owner, Leigh Friedman:
Still, Friedman, 57, is confident a market remains for another theater in the area. He plans to open his Movie Buff Theatre April 29 with about five first-run films and ramp up until all 14 screens in the building are operating. A few independent films likely will be shown, as well.
“I think [AMC] didn’t want to cannibalize their own theater,” he said of the Traders Point location. “This was the weaker one, so they closed it. That being said, I still think there’s an opportunity.”
