The Edge 14 in Macon, Georgia closed earlier this month, less than a year after it re-opened under the management of Naos Entertainment. Naos purchased the theater from Regal in August 2010, closed it for renovations, and it opened in November 2010 (read the Journal articles).
Channel 13 WMAZ quotes a Naos representative as saying that they could not keep the theater open in the current economy.
Marty Felts with Naos Entertainment of Birmingham, Alabama, says they closed the theater because the couldn't operate it based on economics.
Felts says he believes the landlord is most likely looking for a new operator.
Since summer is usually the busiest time for movie theaters, and when the most money is made, this summer's numbers for the theater must not have looked good on the spreadsheets. Click the Read link below to read the article and watch the video report on WMAZ's web site.
Moviegoers in the area will need to look to the nearby AmStar 16 - Macon for movies, and if they're willing to drive a little, the GTC Galleria 15 Cinemas is about 20 minutes away in Centerville.
